DROMOLAND CASTLE SPA

The concepts presented took influence from the history and stature of Dromoland Castle. We made prime use of expressing original features and complementing the period styling, while creating a luxurious and inspiring thermal spa and treatment rooms. Ornate finishings, and exquisite detailing are used across the spa and the overall essence is one of elegant and refined opulence.

The courtyard garden, positioned under one of the watchful castle turrets, take influence from the medieval era. An archway, seamlessly carved out of timber and green wall cladding, leads to the thermal suite. Within this cave like structure are atmospherically lit thermal cabins, housing an aromatic steam pod, herbal sauna, cold ice chill pod, and experience shower. Three hydropool and a host of loungers offer relaxation under a covered glass roof, letting the essence of nature in without the reality of a lot of rain!

The treatment rooms, changing room, beauty suite and spa reception all make use of rich finishes and ornate detailing, along with period panelling, fluted banquette seating and adorned lockers. Aged bonze mirrors, marble effect tiles and parquet style floor tiles nod to the Castle period styling along with a light and gold colour palette.

BUTTERSCOTCH DESIGN CREATED A UNIQUE SENSORY EXPERIENCE IN THE CASTLE GROUNDS. FROM FOREST BATHING, A STUNNING ‘SENSORY STROLL’ GARDEN, TO FLOATING YOGA AND MEDITATION PODS ON THE FAMOUS LILY POND. WE ALSO LOOKED TO TRANSFORM THE HISTORIC TEMPLE INTO A SOUND BATH HEALING EXPERIENCE, WITH HAMMOCKS SURROUNDING A SPACE FOR A SOMEONE TO PLAY A GONG OR SINGING BOWLS.
